Biography
I am a writer, an editor at Urban Times and a nomad at heart - I may as well be called bint Battuta for my love of going away.
My Urban Times Story
My story with the mag began after a late night shisha session in a sketch Moroccan joint on the Danforth with my friend Veenay who, too excited to smoke, went on about this new start-up he had connects to. I heard him out and within 20 minutes I was sold. A few months later I was given my own section and I began brainstorming how I envisioned running it. I've worked in community grassroot initiatives since I was thirteen so issues relating to social justice, accessibility and activism were paradigms I was very intent on working with. From this, Urban Times' newest feature series was born: Critical Conversations.
