Danny Cash is the pseudonym of a prisoner serving a life-sentence in a British jail. He will become eligible for parole from early 2019, when he will be 42 years old.
Having left school with only one GCSE, Cash sought out various unskilled labour, soon discovering that the possessed a natural talen for sales and marketing that would enable him to earn year-round.
Somewhere along the way he met and married a woman he fell deeply in love with. The relationship, however, was as stormy as it was passionate. Cash became a victim and perpetrator of domestic abuse. He says that neither himself nor his wife could see from the inside what everybody else could see from the outside, that he and his wife had effectively conditioned one another to see their mutual abuse as normal and acceptable behaviour. During one such domestic altercation that quickly spiraled out of all control, Cash's wife was tragically killed, and Cash subsequently convicted of murder. Cash is profoundly sorry and genuinely remorseful for the responsibility he bears. Since being in prison Cash has worked hard to address his offending behaviour. He aspires to be a better man.
Cash has found real catharsis through his writing. As well as regularly blogging here at Urban Times, Cash is currently working on a self-help book in which he details some of the tools and techniques tht he has used to help him redefine his experiences. He fervently believes if these tools and techniques can work for him in his situation, they can work for anyone. He hopes to bring the book to the readers of Urban Times, and a wider audience, later this year or early next. He is also currently studying for a Humanities degree with the Open University, specialising in Creative Writing and Spanish.
After his eventual release, as well as working as a jobbing writer, Cash would like to devote his time to helping other couples stuck in abusive relationships. By helping others face up to the abuse in their relationships and avoid the potentially catastrophic consequences of such abuse he hopes it will be possible to add some sort of meaning and purpose to everything that has happened.
Danny Cash supports all initiatives designed to help reduce the individual tragedies and social cancer that is domestic abuse.
