London's 'Oyster' Turns Ten!

Today marks a decade since London first introduced the infamous ‘Oyster’ travel card. While the card is a part of commuting that most Londoners take for granted, it isn’t something was developed easily. 

The Oyster card is far more complex than it probably seems; taking years to configure, its delivery required complex new infrastructure, pricing systems and a massive roll out program. In fact, most major cities still don’t have anything quite like it.

From those of us who no longer need to buy multiple tickets to get about or rummage for loose change as we’re running for the bus… happy birthday Oyster!
