At a dinner party in London, two of the most diametrically opposed guests find themselves across the table from each other. What ensues is not an ordinary debate, but a war of worldviews.
I don’t know whether I agree with every word of Australian comedian Tim Minchin’s rant against God, alternative medicine, the soul or the unseen. Is it pompous and self-righteous? Totally. Do I appreciate the delivery anyway? Yes. The razor-like sharpness of his wits, the delectable word choice and the sheer spunk of his vitriol are enough for me to sit back and ignore the protesting hippy inside of me. Most of us, I think, are made up of a combination of Storm and Minchin, but when the poetry is good, it’s good. And when the corresponding video is so cleverly animated and with a good soundtrack, I hope that people can look past the debate and enjoy the clip for its art, if for nothing else.
