Drinking a healthy amount of clean water is essential to our survival. We need clean water to function and be productive additions to society. But how many of us actually have access to clean drinking water?
Currently, it is estimated that about 3.6 million people die every year from diseases bourne by unhealthy water. Within that number, about 1.5 million children under the age of 5 were affected and died. This consequently makes bad water the leading cause of death today.
Water and Ink is an initiative brought upon by Solidarités International and its agency BDDP Unlimited to raise awareness of the perils of undrinkable water. With the help of artist and director, Clément Beauvais, the short offers a unique approach to an issue that continues to affect many of us. It is a minimalist approach that is both visually appealing and surprising.
The campaign will be seen from mid-March on TV, the internet, in cinemas and in print. A website known as votregouttedeau.org, will also gather signatures for a petition that will eventually be delivered to the French president during the 6th World Water Forum in March 2012.
