All Aboard the Trans-Mongolian Express [Video]

The Trans-Mongolian Railway is a stretch of track connecting to the better known Trans-Siberian route, on which passengers can travel south from Ulan-Ude in Russia into the Mongolian capital Ulan Bator, and then onwards into China. In conjunction with the greater network of which it forms a part, it allows intrepid voyagers to travel continuously overland from Moscow to Beijing, via Mongolia—a 7 day journey of more than 7,500km.

The travelers in this video took the journey in the opposite direction, heading from Beijing to Moscow, west to east. The seven day journey is condensed into just four minutes, but in that time spans a range of scenery: mountains, plains, rivers, valleys, dense cities and vast wilderness; it’s enough to make you want to stock up on food and vodka, and book a ticket right away.
