So according to an exclusive from The Wrap, JJ. Abrams is to direct Star Wars: Episode VII and I couldn’t agree with Disney more. This man is famed for his ability to write and direct compelling Sci-Fiction/Space Operas – trust me you’ll know his work. He created Lost, Alias, Cloverfield and reinvigorated the Star Trek franchise in 2009. Yes, the director of the next Star Wars film is involved as director in two franchises that have had a rivalry since time began… well, at least since that thing that looked like a moon but turned out to be a giant space station appeared on our screens in 1977 – one of those monumental moments in the world of Sci-Fi.
The general verdict on Abrams directing the next Star Wars seems to be positive, however, fans don’t want the lens flare that was used in Star Trek. In case you don’t know what that is, it’s a camera technique sometimes used by directors to basically create ‘cool’ looking light effects. Luckily, even JJ admitted to using too much of it in Star trek and that’s just not how Star Wars rolls.
With a great writer like Michael Arndt, who wrote the Oscar winning Little Miss Sunshine and the screenplay to Toy Story 3, Star Wars looks like it’s surrounding itself with the right people to take the franchise to the peak of awesomeness that the original trilogy experienced, we have our fingers crossed!
