Is selling your virginity really an opportunistic business deal or is it merely publicised prostitution?
Along with birth and death, ‘like it’ or ‘hump it’, you’ve only got to go through losing your virginity the once. Unless of course, you believe in reincarnation or the now surprisingly fashionable trend to have your hymen membrane ‘re-connected’ – better known to many as Hymenoplasty.
They say ‘the best things in life are free’, and although losing my ‘V-plate’ certainly wasn’t as rewarding and beneficial as losing my ‘L-plate’ – though, a few friends did comment that post-cherry popping I had developed the gait of a skinny John Wayne. In retrospect, I’ll put that down to the crotch suffocating tightness of the ladies drainpipes, I had taken to wearing that year.
I did however, give ‘it’ away for free, but 20 year old Brazilian Catarina Migliorini has an altogether more shrewd, and some would say business minded approach, with what is to be done with hers. Migliorini put ‘it’ up for sale in an online auction where the winning bidder offered a whopping $780,000.

Using archive footage from the fantastic Prelinger Collection, perspecTV tales the tale of Miss Migliorini in ‘The Girl Who Sold Her Virginity’ and takes the debate to the sex shop filled streets of Soho, London.
