Music On Monday: SZA – “Country”

“Country”, by up and coming St. Louis Singer SZA, is the first song and official video from her newly released project See SZA Run.

The EP is 7 tracks of sultry vocals and tales of love and longing layered atop evocative and dreamy instrumentals – with production from Top Notch, ApSuperProducer, Brandun Deshay, and Dot.

The blossoming songstress has shared stages with likes of Colin Munroe and Asher Roth to name a few. She says that her sound is derived from a multitude of musical influences:

“I was raised on a lot of John Coltrane, Satchmo, Miles Davis, Billy Holiday, and Björk with an adult obsession of all things Wu-Tang. The one thing I’ve always admired is their ability to paint scenes with their sounds. When I write I usually let the beat saturate my mood and head space; that determines every scene and set design for any song, the rest is all secondary.”
