When we previously posted a Hurricane Sandy timelapse (showing the view from the New York Times’ skyscraper-mounted webcam) it was with a note that this was probably just the first of many.
This new video, from Youtube user SMvideoChan, does greater justice to the ferocity of the storm. The waters of the Hudson River crash against jetties, as the wind drives grey clouds across the picture and flurries of raindrops lash the camera lens.
But most notable is the shock of witnessing the blackout that struck much of Manhattan. Night falls, the building lights twinkle in the rain, until somewhere near the two minute mark… BOOM. Darkness.
